Default Air Conditioning

Has anyone had trouble with the AC on their GT Cruisers? Are they prone to leak freon?

I guess it depends on how many miles you have on the car. I've had to replace the compressor on my 96 Dodge van and both of my SHO's at about 70K miles. So far at 25K miles on the GT I haven't had any problems. When the compressor went bad on the Dodge I asked the service manager if this was typical and he said that is about where they fail. Happily, I had the extended warantee on all of the cars so all it cost me was $50 for each. CJJ

Mine's on year round and works like a charm. I believe this has come up in the past and the end result was if under warrenty take it to the dealer. I think things had to be tighten up and recharged, no biggie other then aggravation. Out of all the cruisers here there were only a handful with the a/c not getting cold enough and problem being solved by taking it in for service. Good luck, lets hope for simple.

My 03 Gt was boiught in October of 02 and the A/C works like a charm. Had to use it yesterday on the So Cal freeway and with ambient temperature at 87 it cooled whole care in about 3 min. I am not quite sure it is as cold as last year but I think it is good enough for at least another year before recharge. It is used about 9 mo out of the year and used hard for at least 4 of those months with temps over triple digit here in Riverside.

i had to replace one of my a/c lines last summer. the line tore on the bottom side. you had to really look to see where the line was damaged. from the top all looked ok. my wife was driving the car in the rain and the a/c stoped working. thats why i started to look around. the dealer replaced it no problem. they did however strip the bolt hole on my compressor, but gave me a brand new one

Well, the AC on my girlfriends '03 GT has recently given us problems. We purchased the Cruiser used last July with 31,000 on the clock, and right now it has 43,000 on it, which means we are out of the 3/36 warranty. Right now, the dealer is replacing two of the hoses, a bunch of O rings and clips, and the accumulator. This is the second dealer we've taken it to, and they did a sniffer test and a dye test, and we are over a thousand into this little opus. As far as i know, it's never been in an accident, so this looks like a major failure of the stock system. I am VERY disappointed with Chrysler on this, although everything else has been impressive.
