Default got #2035 today

[8D] hello every1

for the past 2 weeks ive been waiting for my dream pt to arrive, and reading this forum until weee hours. Ive read almost all threads, and its been interesting and fun to listen to all of u.

so i got #2035 today cause wife baby and 3 dogs didnt quite fit in our car. wife liked scenic [:O] i was terrified, but fortunatlly i found out that scenic II is arround the corner AND that there is a turbo pt [}]
when i saw the dream series at the dealer i knew that was the car i wanted, wife allways liked pt but i dont like slow cars so with turbo it all came together.

im a bit disaponted about the auto-stick on 1st it auto switches to 2nd at 6k rpm wtf!!!! shouldnt it at least let me go to 7k?
is this the same for all of u?
is there a way to change it?

also for u guys that have been testing with the K&N filter and the removal of the thingy to make engine cooler, how much faster do u feel the car, 5%, 10%, the same?

also can the boost controller valves harm the engine?
from what ive read that seems to be the thing to do in order to get more bang for the buck, is this right?

well its nice to be a part of this comunity now

Welcome to the wonderful world of PT Cruisers.

The computer in the PT's (including the turbos) works VERY hard to keep you from screwing up the engine. The AutoStick in D will shift a couple hundred rpms before redline. In AutoStick Mode it will shift at redline. Chrysler doesn't want you running the engine past redline. I am not aware of a commerically available "fix" that will let you run to 7K. You shouldn't do that anyway unless you plan on eating the repair bill when it tears up.

On the boost controller, the answer is YES. If not set properly they can to serious damage to your engine. If set conservatively (keeping the boost at or below 14psi at all times) should not harm your engine. The boost controller certain is an inexpensive way to add power. Just be careful and expect your gas mileage to drop with higher than "standard" boost.

Hey congrats! I like the DC II much better than the DC I. I can't believe your taching it up that far already? deffently not good for a new engine. The owners manual clearly states that that kind of driving would be very bad. IMHO I would wait until after the first oil change to really get on it, again my opinion...<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

Engine Break-In Recommendations

The engine in your new vehicle does not require a long break-in period.

Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km / h) are desirable.

While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration, within the limits of local traffic laws, contributes to a good break-in.

Wide open throttle acceleration in low gear can be detrimental and should be avoided.

I don't think mine has seen 5500 rpm yet, I have 2100 miles. Waiting for synthetic before putting boost control in or pushing it too hard.
