ok guys now that we have the turbo about covered and thans for that very good information by the way. now tell me that i can use regular gas with this gt turbo? the fuel cover and manual says to use premium but some people at work with other turbo cars say they are using regular gas and see little to no difference. my corvair requires premium gas and i have been using mid grade gas and have seen no ill effects from this change. in the corvair it helps keep the car from run on and ping. air cooled engines seem to need high octang gas for this reason. but in the water cooled world of the gt turbo i'm wondering if this is at all necessary except for some preformance issues. thanks bp.

No, no, no! No regular gas! I don't mean to sound horrible, but if you were so concerned about gas mileage, why did you by a turbocharger car, much less a High Output GT?! The GT is all about power and speed in a multipurpose vehicle. My PTGT does 0-60 in about 7 seconds now, only because of wheel spin on these crappy Badyear tires, and the jump from 60-100 is awesome. I'll go to pass someone and them notice I left everyone behind and I'm doing 100! So what my mileage is crappy. I drove about 116 miles saturday and eat up half a tank. But I did almost 55 miles in 50 minutes, including stopping for tolls. I suggest if you want better gas mileage you sell the GT to someone who would really appreciate it and you buy yourself a hybrid Toyota or Honda. Then you'd get like 50mpg. I not slamming you, but why would you spend so much money on a GT, and them get cheap with the gas. What to save a couple of bucks at fill up time? By the way, the people at your job that have turbos and use regular gas are giving you bad advice and probably damaging their cars as well. Don't bother to listen to them.
