Default Extended warranty anyone?

Has anyone considered the economics of the extended warranty? I'll probably pass 36K miles in a month or so. I was debating the extended warranty because it is too early to know how reliable these turbos are. Normally, I wouldn't consider an extended warranty but this is my first non-Toyota in a long time.

I am a little late cause I am almost at 40,000 miles but never approached by DC about an extended warrantee. Does anyone know what the factory has to offer beyond my 7/70 ?[:I]

If you have an auto tranny I would get the extended warranty, unless you have the money to fix it if/when it breaks.

I get a couple of offers for buying extended warranties a week in my e-mail in-box. Usually I just hit the delete button and move on. Yesterday I thought I'd open one and take a look. Turns out, the warranty company was located in the Philipines. Wouldn't it be a comfort to know that you have to get money from half way around the world when you have a claim?

Be sure to check who you will have to deal with before you hand over your money.

SteelBlueGT,
I thought the warranty was 3/36 not 7/70. Was 7/70 an option at purchase or is it just a powertrain warranty whereas the 3/36 is a bumper-to-bumper? If I've got 7/70 on the powertrain, I'm not going to bother with an extended warranty.

I have extended warranty on my PT, recommanded by my cousin who is a Chrysler tech. It extends the bumper to bumper coverage from 3/60km to 7/115km with zero deductible. I think the zero deductible also apply to my powertrain eventhough the vehicle comes standard with the 7/115km powertrain with $100 deductible per visit. I guess I'll find out when I exercise it, hopefully never. My extended warranty is covered by Chrysler which is why I bought it.

Yes I have the standard on Oct 02 warrantee which was 3/36 on all coponents exept tires and I think battery which is covered by seperate manufacture warrantees and the listed consumables like light bulbs, clutches, brake pads, and windshield wipers, etc. 7/70 covers drivetrain items which are enumerated in the warrantee. After the 3/36 I thought a $100 deductible was in play but last time I needed my car's computer flahed it was free. Still would be nice if I could get a bumper to bumper 10/100 $100 deductible plan at a reasonable price.

I purchased an extended Chrysler warranty with my GT, mainly because I wanted complete coverage for the entire time I was paying for it.

Still in the original coverage, but it never hurts to be safe, especially as I plan on keeping Clifford.

The 100,000 mile extended warranty from Chrysler is the only one you should pay extra for.

Most repair work won't be needed until after 36,000, but in order to get your money's worth it should extend as many miles after that as possible.

Otherwise, just pay for repairs as needed.

Do Ijust go to Dealer for it? Unlike my other DC cars I was never approached to buy it before the 3 year 36,000 mile one expired.
