heard the mustang gt's are a good car to compare ours to.
My nieghbor has an 03'GT auto, he's been eye balling me since i got my turbo. Well as i was coming home early today there he is sitting at the light, has some babe in the car too. also the road is wide open after this light... i can see him recognize me, and smile, i pull up in the slow lane on his back right tire, at the green we both hit it hard,[8)] my 5 speed jumps 1/2 a car length on him , but he gets it backon my 1st to 2nd gear shift , his V-8 is so loud i can't evenhear my car. we are side by side thru 2nd and thru most of 3rd, then he makes a small mistake[V] , he holds his car alittle too long in a gear, i can hear his motor screaming for an up-shift, this is the exact time i'm pulling thru 5.5K rpm at the top of third gear[?] , i jump right by him about 25 feet as i go into 4th.[ ]we look at each other only for a moment, as 100mph is coming up quick, but the defeated look on his face was worth every friggin dime i've spent on this car. he let off and changed lanes and couldn't get away from me quick enough, his girl was mouthing "what the hell is that thing" as i made my turn off. i know it's just a mustang auto, but it made my month. didn't realize thru the whole thing i'm holding my Wendy's frosty in my left hand.[^] |

I just have one question. How did he keep it in gear too long if he has an automatic?

The mustangs AODE tranny has a tendency to hold onto the gear too long and not shift when it should.

I also raced a '03 GT and was suprised when I beat him. The first race was from around 20mph, and we finally slowed down at around 90mph. He pulls up next to me, and says he messed up on his timing. So we pull up to a red light where my land merges with his (146 going to Galveston) We take off, and I easily have enough room to get in front of him. Needless to say, he rode my butt a while.. lol
Oh, I also had two friends in the car...[8)]

to me that most people would not want to brag about. [B)] I have an "S1" GT. I know my car is VERY FAST [8)]but I don't have to prove it to others by street racing (especially when holding a frosty). If one wants to race that's fine but go to the track an do it right--in a legally-sanctioned and responsible manner. [8D] If your car is really that fast [ ] then you can brag about it by posting your time slips online as many do. [8] |

Wow, that's the first scolding I've read on the forum.
Not every town in the U.S. has a local drag strip. I'd probably not ask my neighbor to drive 100+ miles to the nearest strip just to see who has the fastest car either if we had open road ahead of us. The Frostie + Torque Steer would be a problem if I were driving but I'll assume that if Mr.2u has enough sense to buy a Cruiser, then he has enough sense to drive responsibly. Congrats and good luck to both of you and your races, wherever they take place! |

You are also correct, Hill Cruiser, when you state that "...The Frostie + Torque Steer would be a problem...". [:0] [B)] This could be especially troublesome for a turbo car. If you're driving a STAGE 1 Turbo Cruiser at WOT [8)] then you better make sure both hands are on the steering wheel--no frosties permitted --and your eyes are on the road in front of you because you are, for sure, "off to the races"!!!
