I really need something like this. If you get a pic please post. I am adding a little oil every weekend to keep it topped and I think this is a major culprit, especially when I am doing a lot of high RPM blasts during the week.

I took some nice pictures with the digital camera for the first time and got them loaded into the computer, but couldn't post them. Found that I needed to open a cardomain page to post on this forum, and I did that. The pictures wouldn't upload from my picture file after several attempts. Take my word for it hooking up the system of the catch can and check valve is much easier than to post a picture on this forum!

Yikes! You can't put that kind of restriction in the PCV line! You are wreaking havoc on the emmissions system, and really messing up the standing waves in the crankcase wich in turn affects the pressrue on the rings.
PCVs have a very specific breath rate in both directions, and unless you have a problem elsewhere this is NOT causing your consumption problem. We put hours and hours on three race-prepped 2005 2.4 Turbo HO engines and have never had consumption problems. You could be doing some serious damage to ring seal as well as emission /vaccuum equipment with that arrangement. Lets bear in mind that this is a fairly runed instrumejnt, and whacking it with pitch-forks or gun racks is not the best approach to anything.

idon't think its exactly a consomption issue all cars especially turbo cars tend to, i suppose blow-by sounds right but i know its not the exact term. there ws never a way to control this, you say you have pt race cars? ifso check your tail pipes i guarantee you will have some sort of oil residue. i ran turbo eclipses and talon for about 7 years and no matter how many miles, how new or old, or what mods i had there was always oil residue and alot of the times under hard acceleration a puff of smoke which i'm sure you'll say is the seals in the turbo, yes thats true, but also the burning of the oil that is somehow passed into the motor(pcv) i wish i would have known about this catch can a long time ago, it probably would have saved a few catalytic convertors and mufflers. i bought a new exhaust system for my pt but have only recently installed my catch can i'm defintally running my catch can for about 3-4 weeks, no sense in soaking a new exhaust system.
by the way i think that the check ball is an awesome idea! |
