How difficult is it to self install drivers door lock actuator? (any specialized tools/know how?) Just purchased a 2001 LE and love it, however, drivers door lock screeches when it locks. Is there, by any chance, an adjustment that can be made to fix it? Thanks !!

Welcome to the forum Wulf. I haven't the faintest idea how the locks actually work, but if it is working, I can't see a reason for changing it out because of the screeching noise. Sounds like it just needs a bit of lubricant. If the car was sitting outside on a lot for awhile, moisture might have gotten in and rusted something up a bit.

I believe that the actuator is part of the latch assembly. The solenoids sometimes make noise when actuated. Try a bit of graphite on the shaft and the linkage. It should be obvious what needs lubing when the panel is off and the lock is used. If this doesn't fix it, replacement-time.

Okay honey lets clear some things up.. !
The door makes a sound when you hit the lock button right? Yes it is a problem with the lock actuator... not the door needing any lubercating! there is no lubercating that you can put on the lock motor or actuator to fix it.. you need to repalce it! I had the same problem with mine! I had to replace it and now it is working fine! I know trying to explain it to someone with out them hearing it.. is kinda hard to do.. but if you just get a new acutator your little PT willl no longer scream at you !!! LOL

Can't find a replacement part. No online parts suppliers have an actuator for the front doors on 2001 PT, only rear.
Can somebody suggest a good supplier? thanks! a |
