Overhead Console
I just bought a 2001 Cruiser. The question I have is about the overhead console (compass and temp). It does not work (just dead). The previous owner said it went out a while back. I have checked the manual about the possibility of it being a fuse and see nothing. Could this be a bulb or maybe a fuse in the unit? Or do I have to replace the whole unit? I do not want to get into it without knowing more about this. Thanks....Bruce

Not sure what the problem is but if you have to replace it, check with e-bay first. I bought one there a couple of years ago a lot cheaper than what the dealer wants for one.

Check fuse 18 (15 amp) in the PDC (underhood), and Fuse 14 (20 amp) in the fuse block (left side of dash). Ground is located in rear center of dash, but unless someone has messed around there, I doubt that's the problem.
If the fuses are okay, you could pull the console to check power and ground at the unit, but at that point it may be the whole thing. Good Luck.
