Hello everyone, my name is Clark and I just joined
this site today, so please bear with me and my very noob and stupid questions. I just got my first car about a month ago, it is an 05 PT Cruiser non turbo. I really want to make it up all nice, I have already put in a performance air intake system and plan on adding a Helix Tower soon. As for car audio I put in two Pioneer 6x8" 4-ways in the very back, they fit in absolutely perfect. For the doors I put in Pioneer 6 1/2" which was a big mistake, they where just to small to fit in so I ended up cutting off the brackets of the factory speakers and gluing the Pioneers to the brackets, worked real well, but will be putting in the oversized 6 3/4" ones eventually. The head unit that I ordered was on back order for a month so I finely just ordered a different one a Pioneer DEH-P4900IB, I love Pioneer they have never let me down. Anyway, I have been looking at the front dash where the head unit goes and I do not see a way to get the dash off, with out scratching something anyway, just wondering if you could give me some advise on how to take the old unit out and put the new one in without ripping things apart. Also I bought some 3 1/2" speakers for the front any idea how to get that giant piece of plastic off without scratching things to pieces? Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and I plan on spending a lot of time on here! lol Clark Lambert |

Can't help with the speakers, but to get at the radio: very gently pry out the plate that has the 4 window switches in it. Disconnect the wiring from the back of the switches and set the plate down. Look inside the square hole and you'll see one phillips head screw. Take that screw out. Take off the 4 round knobs that adjust the air-conditioning. Now GENTLY pry all around the edges of the whole panal that fits around the vents/radio/controls. It will start to come loose and come off towards you. Once that's off, you have access to the radio and the screws that hold it in.
