I hadn't driven the Cruiser all weekend, which is when I put the knob on. I just went down the street to listen and it does make noise. Geez...I would have thought somebody might have posted this already...and maybe they did.
So, I put a single layer of clear tape around it. It still slides up and down but I didn't take it back out again. It's raining and nasty in San Antonio this morning. If that doesn't work and nothing else does either, I'll either take it out when I'm driving or remove the knob completely. Noises like that in a car drive me crazy also. And for me...that's a short trip.

On the driving lights I got. If I ever install these, it still has to go to the dealer so they can connect the Starscan tool and configure the lights to come on. This was posted but I didn't read it before I bought them. You know, I thought I was going to get wiser as I got older. Doesn't seem so.

Thanx...

If all else fails, one friend suggested I simply use touchup paint to paint the original white plastic shift knob to match the exterior. Any opinions and/or suggestions about that idea are also welcome!
I'm looking for an original white automatic shift knob. Mine is black and I love the looks of the white shift knob. It reminds me of the old 4 speed knobs from back in the sixties.

I'll keep you in mind: if I ever do finally find a replacement knob I like, you can have my original white one!

Hey Woody,

How's tricks? I have looked everywhere for a knob. I now have the chrome one. I had to wrap a single layer of clear tape around the button in the middle to keep it from rattling. That works fine...no noise at all.

Like the original door locks, I have the original gearshift knob. There's that fear of having to go back to it for some reason but I guess I can let it go. I don't remember who asked for it but we can make arrangements. Let me know.

Vince...

PS - does your front end bottom when you go through particular dips?
