Default My power door Lock is broken...

Hello,
I have a 2003 Pt, and the car has been a champ, though about 6 months ago my passenger side power lock stopped working, it just makes this grinding sound as if a cog is stripped or not engaging. I've had to put off getting this fixed, just because it seems it would cost a fortune to take it to a dealer and have replaced. But at this point, it is too annoying, I want to know if it is plausable to fix this myself, whether it's just alligning the motor or maybe even replacing it. I am not skittish about working on cars or pulling off panels. So can this be done? Any online guides? Any advice?

thanks for any help,
nathan

Nathan, WELCOME to the forum.

I haven't heard of your problem before this and I routinely visit a lot of forums. My suggestion; if your not skidish about taking off the door panel, do it! See what's happening with the lock and maybe narrow it down to a particular part that you can order from the dealer instead of having them diagnose and fix it. You can't lose anything but some of your own time.

Thanks for your quick note back, I appreciate it. Hah, it's true I guess I could just pull it off and poke around in there. So that being said...any tricks to removing these panels? Or just unscrew the obvious bolts?

thanks,
nathan

Sorry, never did it, but lots of owners have in order to customize and paint the panels, so it shouldn't be too hard.

I have taken off the panel in my other car and there were lots of push-pull pins that have to be pried out gently so they can be re-used to put the panel back on.

Hopefully someone will come along here that taken the panel off and give you more help. Give it some time for others to see this thread.
