Does anyone have a KNOWN method of removing the painted-on safety plate glass "memo" that is located on the car's windows? I'm going to get the front windows tinted and want to take a proactive step in preventing poor tint adhesion.
Also, is door panel removal necessary to do it right? |

Stephen, I take it that what you mean by front windows are the driver and passenger side windows! I don't think any state allows for a tint of the front window except for about 5 or 6 inches at the top. As far as the "memo" on the side windows, I guess your talking about the words that show that the glass conforms to the safety procedures while building cars. All three of my cars have been tinted by professional window tint installers and there was no problem going right over the "memo" on all the cars and one of the cars has had the tint for years without any adhesion problems. Once the tint is on, you really have to look hard to find the "memo" at all so personally I wouldn't worry about it....just my 2 cents worth...

Same here..you won't even be able to see em once the tint has been applied. The door panels don't have to come off. I agree also with..whatever you do..don't roll the windows down for a couple two or three days..if there are slight bubbles in the finish, also don't panic, as it dries completely, they'll go away. Never use paper towel to clean them cause it'll scratch em, and don't use Windex either (too harsh). There are really good products available, probably through the pro who does it, or at auto parts stores. If you have it done by pros, you'll save yourself a lot of hassle, and it'll come with a good warranty. All of these cautions don't apply to the factory tint, because those are actually "between" layers of glass. I had my done and have never regreted it, they look great, and it brings the whole profile of the car together nicely.

The letters on the glass are etched on and can not be removed! In many states that allow tint on the front side windows the etching has never become a problem. I have put several brands and various thicknesses over them and have never been a problem. Just look as you walk through a parking lot and look for the letters they will be there on all of them!
