It isn't easy . I sit between the seats with the handle between my legs and with both hands , pull it up as far as I can , then recline both front seats , move the shift lever as needed and mine came out ok . Guess if your brake adjustment is tight , maybe you won't be able to get the handle up far enough . Good luck .

I took the center console out to install a Hurst shifter and also to paint it to match the dash. To remove the console, pull back on the e-brake as far as possible, undo the four screws, and unscrew the lumbar handle if your car is so equipped. Next put the seats in the reclined position and move them all the way back.Lift the console enough to get your hand under it and undo the socket plug and the window switches.Pull up on the rear of the console pressing in on the back ends a little and push forward and upward clearing the e-brake.
To put it back in just go reverse, its just as fun. Good Luck. |

Ahhhh..now I understand..hey, Inferno Cruiser..how's that Hurst shifter work for you? Does it give you the nice, tight, short throws of Hurst shifters of the past? I've always loved the feel of those .

The Hurst shifter is a big improvement over the stock shifter. It gives you tighter and shorter throws. It was well worth the money and time it took ot install, about an hour and half. I bought it from Moss Motors,$199.00.It was the best price I could find and Moss Motors is great to deal with.
