Default $20 auxiliary input for any stereo

I have an 01 PT. The stereo is not capable of having an auxiliary input however... UNTIL NOW! I purchased an FM Transmitter for $20 and hardwired the power cable, then I spliced the output antenna of the transmitter into the input antenna of the stereo by making a little piggy back harness. The quality of the input is perfect and not affected by any incoming signals. It can even block out the strongest stations in this area. I have programmed the station it transmits on to the "1" button, so functionally it acts exactly like the $70-100 inputs!

"It can even block out the strongest stations in this area."

Many times I've pulled up to an intersection and had my radio overpowered by the yahoo in the next car because his FM transmitter is boosted too high.

On the satellite radio forum I frequent, there has been some mention that the FCC is seriously considering outlawing in-car FM transmitter devices because so many of them are not meeting the interference requirements. Blame that on all of those cheap Ipod kits made in Asia. How they'll ever get all of the existing ones off the road is anyone's guess.

I did not boost the power on mine, so it will not block out other peoples. It is only my stereo that it blocks the other stations for. Tested it with my friend. 93.3 was clear as day in his, my iPod was playing on the same channel in my car right next to him. I read about that FCC thing, I am unsure how they will pull ones already in use as well...

There is this adapter that you can get...it's for my Sirius radio...
but it will pretty much work with anything.....

you plug the antenna input into it...the you plug the unit into the back of your stereo....it then runs a wire up that has a male connector you can then plug it into your stereo or MP3 er whutever...

I need to double check if it's the standard earphone jack size or the one smaller then that...but if so I'm sure you can get an enlarger/reducer/female adapter at a local radio shack

it's only 20 bucks and I've seen them at Circuit City...I've wanted to get one for my '05, but honestly..I'm afraid of breaking the factory seal and taking my dash apart (i don't want my radio/dash to start to vibrate.....that happened wif my old Avenger

so here is a Pic of it.
