I tried putting LEDs in my dads dakota SLT. For some reason, the lights stay on all the time with a really low glow. Now, I have the same bulbs in my R/T, which is a sport model, and they go out completely. The only difference is, my dads truck has a fade circuit, where the lights fade out slowly. The PT has the same thing... so wouldnt the LEDs stay on still ?

I was gonna convert my bulbs over to LEDs in orange, since I have the dream cruiser, but if they are going to stay on, then I was just gonna buy the glass bulbs in orange.

Well i am pretty sure that the LEDs and the incandescents will behave the same. the only reason i can think that they would stay on is if there was a small trickle of power running through it, but even then the filament of the incandescent bulb would glow slightly... Another user on this forum uses them and they seem to work fine though.

Yea I ordered a set of festoon orange LEDs for the front, and a 921 matrix for the center / rear dome. I also got a chrome amber 921 glass bulb for the rear cargo area. Hopefully they will all work correctly, and go out without glowing.

The only thing I could figure is that the truck has a current going through it like you said, and LEDs run on lower voltage, so it picks it up and glows, but the incandescent glass bulb needs more energy to light up, so it doesnt glow.

Cross reference:

4410 = 212-2

579 = 912

pain in the butt isnt it? I had to do a lot of research first to find the right bulbs.

Enjoy.

The rear dome light is tricky, it is not a festoon (tube) type bulb, its a wedge!

921!

consider wide angle LED's if they have them, and when you install them use some aluminum foil directly across from the beam the LED creates, it helps deflect the light!

holy whacky bat wings.......... you said to use foil to direct the lights.. I was thinking about using 6 LED Feston Bulb and then trying the Luxart LED Module ....either way going to buy 2 and also experiment with the ALM - RB x 3 ...if I am not mistaken the 2 outside point at 45 degree angle..... Do you have any pics from yours
