Question about replacement air vents on a 2007

Hey guys, new to the forum. I just (as in, yesterday) bought an '07 PT Cruiser and buying it used, there are a few things I'm looking at replacing on it. In the center console, the two air vents don't have the air deflectors that come on the right and left side of the dash to let you direct the air coming out of the vents. I've looked online and used every search term I can think of but can't find replacement air deflectors for these two center console vents. Anyone know a secret to finding these that I just don't know? I called a dealership here in town and they were telling me that to get the deflectors I would have to buy an entirely new "center bezel" for almost 200 bucks. I don't think it should cost 200 bucks just to not have air conditioning/heater blowing in my face.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction to find the parts I need! Glad to join the PT Cruiser club!

Are these the vents your talking about in the newer cruisers?



If your are different and don't turn left and right or go up and down, then you just might have to buy the whole center console to get them. $200 isn't bad for the whole thing. The only other thing to suggest is to search the bone yards for a crashed 06-08 cruiser that matches yours.

I'm actually talking about just these two little plastic flap things. I just can't see spending 200 bones on two little pieces of plastic.



You think they'd fit from an 06? Are they the same size?

Man that $100 each which sucks Id think a salvage yard SHOULD have some thing like that- --there was a body in the for sale section it was gutted but he might have some of that stuff left???

2006 and up are the same. What model do you have? Base, Touring? Or did someone just break them? Never seen one without the deflectors.

I've got the 2007 Base model. It used to be owned by Enterprise Rent-A-Car so I have a feeling they were broken by some nutbag rental car customer. The ones on the far left and far right are there. The two that are missing are in the center console. I don't see any edges where they could've been broken out or anything at all. It's like someone went out of their way to just take the plastic part out. The silver ring is still there. Everything else is intact.

So the 2006 ones are the exact same size, eh? If I can get a confirmation on that I think it'll make my problem a whole hell of a lot easier.

I think that the vents on the center console are the same rom 06 and up.

What probably happened is someone tried to remove the center bazel and didn't know the secret!!!

The secret of the center bazel: The center bazel is clipped into place all around it's outer edges EXCEPT for 2 phillips screws located inside the bottom of the 2 vents!!!! With vents in place you cant see those screws unless the vents are horizontal, when the slot is aligned over the screws. So, someone probably just tried to pull off the bazel and broke them.

I know in the 01 to 05 PT's the center bazel sold as one piece, I bought it from a junkyard in one piece. I would suggest you look there for a complete bazel.

The vents are not sold seperate from the center bezel. $200 sounds quite high. While I haven't priced the PT's I have bought other dodge bezels (Durango, Ram etc) for about 1/2 that.

Look at Ebay item # 350121544515. $59.

I've seen a whole center bezel on eBay for about $50 before.............

As one who just took apart his dash on an 06 pt. The center bezel has 2 hidden screws in those vents that need to be removed then the whole assembly will pop off just a little ways until the wiring won't allow it to go any more. The vents themselves are held on by 3 #2 phillip head screws a piece. hopefully they just broke the plastic vents and not the plastic the screws go into otherwise you will have to buy a new surround. A salvage yard would probably be your best bet to find them. Here in Indy there are 2 "pull your own parts" salvage that I think have some 06+ pts. If your serious on them I could look sat or sun and pull them for you and ship.
