Update on the Chrome Door Lock Knobs. These are the ones that look just like the interior color matched ones only chrome. Chrysler only sells them with the lock rod attached.
The front door is P/N 5067180-AB. List is $7.10 ea. The back door is P/N 5067082-AB. List is $6.95 ea. I suggest buying 4 of the back door ones and throwing the rods away. Remember you have to remove the door panel to install these. If you try to just unscrew the old ones you will enlarge/distort the hole in the door panel. [8)]

I don't have time now to do a search but I suggest you do. The door panels don't have to come off just to replace the door locks. The originals just unscrew, granted, they are square at the bottom but gently rock it back and forth while pulling up. I don't know if the Chrysler ones are plated or what but I have the http://mgwltd.com/pt_cruiser.html and they are excellent quality. Alot of other vendors are selling them in the same price range. Right now just Revel Enterprises comes to mind but look on the home page here, tons of vendors. |

bigdogdad,
Thanks for the reply. The reason I was looking for the Chrysler door lock knobs is I get "Dealer Dollars" from my Chrysler credit card. So while they are not cheap, you know they will fit and look good and the bottom line is they cost me $0! I was bidding on a set of used MGW door lock knobs on eBay last week when I realized I could buy the OEMs with my Dealer Dollars. I still highly recommend removing the door panels, it was worth the extra 15-20 minutes to install the knobs. I have seen the holes in the door panels distorted by people removing the originals through the top of the door panel.

It sure is nice to save a buck. I try all the time. As far as the removal of the door locks doing damage, all I can say it didn't happen to mine and many others here on the forum but I still find no fault in what you did. You went the way you felt the safest especially after seeing damage done by others. The end result is the same, a good looking mod to the Cruiser[?] |

You can, I did. And although I see your point about the square at the bottom pulling on the plastic a bit...If I had nothing else to do with the door panels, it isnt worth it to take the whole panel of...4x! [:I]

I have the Door lock from http://mgwltd.com/pt_cruiser.html they are very well made. And you do not have to remove the door panel. These fill in the opening very well.
