06 pt problem

i've been searching all over to help my bro-in-law figure out his problem. he just bought an 06 pt and when he pressed the panic button on his key fob the power locks stopped working as well as the interior lights and dash lights. any help with this situation would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Best first, and easy step, is to put new batteries in the keyfob; and disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 seconds. That should reset any accidentally scrambled codes. Otherwise, it may be a problem with the remote module in the dash. Last time I had some strange occurances with my 2006 Touring keyfob, that worked for me.
