I'm sure Candyman or someone with more expertise will chime, but there was a posting a long time ago on the prep and the sanding. It took me 2 days to finish it properly. I first sanded it with 800 wet/dry (W/D) paper then sprayed the first coat, let dry, sand again w 600 W/D, spray again, sand w 800 W/D, sprayed 3rd coat, sand with 1000 W/D. Leaving it to thoroughly dry between coats. Oh I used "tacky" cloth to wipe each time before spraying. I then put 3 coats of clear coat lightly sanding between coats with 1000 W/D paper. I came out as smooth as a baby's bottom

Even the pewter colored centered dash look better finished off. They don't stand out as much as the colored ones but gives it a finished look.

0n mine i totally removed everthing ever the black trim as it just sticks on
and i care fully removed the old sticky stuff and put on new double sided tape and that how ive been able to get the insides around the dial silver as well so i had no need to mask anything i just sprayed it all to do this its best to heat the control dial trim with a hair dryer so it peals off easy
