Default what's behind the pt's radio?

Are there any rca auxiliary inputs?

I'm looking to wire a cable from the back of the radio to my car to play my Ipod. Has anyone done this? Any input?

On the reverse side of my stock headunit, there are no RCA inputs at all. Even if there were, your best bet (honestly) is to search for an aftermarket headunit with USB compatability. It will charge your iPod as you use it (RCA won't, obviously), and in most cases, you can control your iPod directly on the headunit itself.

Edit: And also, you'll notice much better sound quality from the USB connection, as I'm assuming you'd be utilizing some sort of splitter and an adapter to wire the iPod.

I agree with chris15 it would be best just to upgrade your head unit.

If money were a factor and upgrading the head unit was out of the question. Would there be a way to do it?

Aside from upgrading your headunit, your 'best' option for playing your iPod with your factory stereo is to buy an FM transmitter sold at Walmart, Best Buy, etc. Sound quality would be as good or worse than FM radio, depending upon where you live.

I wouldn't even mess with those FM transmitters. If you can't afford a new deck, look for a used one. I got a nice Pioneer from my brother that's iPod-specific and the deck controls the iPod. It also displays track information so you don't have to mess with looking at the iPod. I don't know if you have a brand you prefer but almost all of the major manufacturers make a deck compatible with iPods. If you can't find one within your price range that's iPod-specific, look for a deck with an aux input. Those can be even cheaper since some much older decks have aux inputs. I'm not sure of your capabilities but changing out a factory deck for an aftermarket one is very easy. All you'll need is a dash kit ($12 or so), a wiring harness adapter ($10) and some crimp-on wire connectors (you can solder if you're really picky about your connections).

If you're gonna change your head unit, go take a look at the HOW TO in the SOUND categorie.

It's kinda easy when you know where to start.

Crutchfield has a nice Clarion headunit with AUX input and 4-channel preamp outputs (front, rear) for 79.99$.

It will costs $133.95 all accessories included, delivered to your door (Macomb, Illinois).

Headunit, wiring harness, antenna adapter, dash receiver kit...everything that you need to do a clean install.

I'd start with this, or something similar, if it was me. They have 6x units at this price, make your choice.

They too had a nice Kenwood unit+front speakers set for a damn good price but it's unluckily out of stock.

Kenwood Receiver and Speakers Package @ Crutchfield.com

EDIT: I forgot that Crutchfield give you all the accessories for free with the purchase of a unit of 129.99$ and +. So since the installation gear alone worth 43$, maybe you should look at a better unit. 'Cause the math says that 80$ for the cheap unit + 43$ of installation stuff = 123$. For 7$ more you'll get a better unit + free installation gear. You'll also get free shipping on top of that.

This one looks good to me: Clarion CZ209 CD + Ipod receiver @ Crutchfield
