Cool 2003 seats in 2007 model?

Hi. I have just bought my ptCruiser and I am not very pleased with the seats. I can see that someone in the forum has asked about putting in seats from the older modls in the newer models. Has anybody actually done it?

Another thing is the dashboard in shining plastic. Is it possible to buy a wooden dashboard or what about the dashboards that are glued on the existing one (like the ones that are for sale in Ebay).

Thanks for advice by someone who has tried

Older seats should not be a problem. Only issue is if you currently have side airbags and the older seats don't then it will turn on the airbag light. Also power seats. Otherwise physically the mounting is all the same. A good place to get seats is LKQ. I've bought 2 sets of seats from them. Last set I got was leather with front and rear seats and got them for about 125 bucks shipped! Check for them on EBay.

Thank you for the answer. I'll change the seats and try to figure out what to do about the airbag/computer problem.

I'm not 100% sure but, I believe that beginning in 2004 all Cruisers came with side airbags.

Not sure if you have done your swap or not but I just purchase a set of leather seats from an 01 for my 06 and there are a few parts I have to run back to the salvage yard to get. The seat belts attach to the seats in the newer pts and not to the side pillar. Plus if you get seats that have the arm rest built in the sides it looks like you will need the center console from the older pt also. I am not 100% sure as I am still working on mine.

Hi.
I actually bought the 2003 seats. Put in the back seat that just fits without problems - untill my daughter should fasten the seat belts. The Seatbelts from older version does not fit in the lock of the newer version. I do not have older seatbelts and instead tried to change the seatbelt-locks. But that is impossible. The bolt is hidden behind a metalbar.
And then I tried to find out what problems the front seats would give me. And then I gave up. It is not possible for the reason of the seatbelts.

I am now in the midst of selling the 2003 leather seats. And have bought 2006 leatherseats instead.

Best regards

Richardt
