Dash cracked

I have a 2001 Cruiser and the dash has two cracks. Both coming from the center defrost vent, one towards the driver and the other towards the windshield. Can this be repaired or would a custom dash cover be the way to go? Of course any other suggestions would be welcome.

Just don't say you want us all to call Chrysler and demand a recall.

Someone else with a cracked dash wants you to do that. There's several covers that you can buy to cover up the dash. You can try fixing it yourself but unless your really good with whatever material it's made out of, it won't be perfect and you'll always see it. You can always pick up a good one from the salvage yard and swap your out.

Not Chrysler's fault. My wife loves tossing stuff on the dash (including heavy books). Over time this broke the center defrost vent and which eventually led to the cracking.
Your comment was the same I have come to, just hoping there is another answer. It's obvious so any "repair" will be visible.

Find one at a junkyard unless you like the dash mats (I don't). Always put a vinyl/plastic protectant on it to prevent the sun from drying it out. I just changed out my dash top and the old one is in 5 or 6 different pieces since the previous owner never did anything with it.

True! I've used dashmats before, and never had any problems with the dash on any of the PT's I've had. (Florida). One problem though, I used "dashhugger" dashmats, and I think they've disappeared from the face of the earth.

For those who use dash mats, where do you get them now?

I got mine for both Cruisers at "CruiserBits.com " but they are no longer supplying parts for PT Cruisers.
