Default lost radio code

Oops - I had a flat battery and as a result need to re-enter my radio code. Unfortunately the garage where I purchased my PT cruiser (from new) did not copy the code into the radio book. I contacted the dealer and was told that as they were no longer Chrysler dealers that they would not help - they wouldn't even look up their records for me! My local garage has been wonderful - they took out the radio, found the serial number, contacted Chrysler, obtained a code - but when we entered it it does not work! Any ideas what I should do now (apart from buying a new radio!)

Never heard nof a radio code. I've disconnected my battery many times. What is a radio code?

A radio code is part of the security system - it is meant to put people off stealing radios from cars. If the radio/cd player is disconnected for any reason, then it can only be re-activated if the code is entered.

It is a great feature - as long as you have the code....... Never mind - I will check the handbooks more carefully in future when I buy a car! I am just sad that I didn't buy a new PT cruiser before they stopped manufacturing and exporting them here to the UK.

Hi I'm a new menber . Just joined the forum because I needed to find out how to take the dash apart to change a dash bulb that had burnt out. Found the info right away and it was very helpful. The job went well but now the radio dosn't work also. My Cruiser is a 2002 that I bought 5 years ago used and it didn't come with the original owner's manual so I have no code either and didn't know about the code at all. I will phone the dealer in the morning and see what happens.

That's what I feel like doing! The word 'code' flashes on the radio display and you enter the numbers using the buttons underneath the radio (used for storing channels). You can have three tries then it goes into 'lockdown' for 30 mins. Really frustrating! I am really missing my music - fed up of singing to myself on journeys........

The security code is ONLY AVAILABLE for export PTs. No domestic PT has a theft code.
That's why the American, Canadian, & Mexican owners are unable to help.

Thanks for posting that info MX-5. Jonest, there is a UK PT website that you might ask your question, they may be able to help. The website is: Chrysler PT Cruiser Club UK - Inc. Accessories Store - Free to Join - Good Luck.
