Can anyone suggest a good site to purchase interior lights with a DARK GREEN glow?? I just bought a 2006 PT with VERY low mileage and want to get a good, creepy, green glow going for the dome and under-dash lights.. This PT will be covered in ZOMBIES eventually, and I am wanting to start my monster off with a simple project like adding some lighting.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated!! |

You might have a hard time finding a bulb for this, so here are a few ideas you might try. All of these are theoretical as I have never tried any of them, but my common sense tells me they could be viable if you can't find the bulb you want.
1. Make a colored lens that will sit inside the existing dome. In this instance, you would need to be careful about the heat from the bulb melting the film. One thing that might work would be the plastic transperent films that can be used in inkjet printers to make overhead transparencies. Use photoshop or some other program to lay rectangles of various shades of green on the film. Cut cut them out, trim them to size to fit them to the dome. Try each one until you find the right glow. 2. You can try painting the bulb. 3. If you feel extra techy, you can rework the wiring in the fixtures to accomodate the LED bulbs you can find at Radio Shack. Good luck! |

To get the dark green glow you're looking for, your best bet would be to lay a piece of vinyl inside of the dome. I would grab a couple of sheets of it from a sign company or tint place in different transparencies and see where that gets you. If you find the shade of green you like, but there just isn't enough light inside for you, I would replace the stock 39mm festoon bulb with an LED replacement bulb, just in white..
Normally for people looking for color, I'd just recommend replacing the bulb with a colored LD bulb, but you say you're looking for a DARK green, which would probably be difficult to do with an LED as they're typically rather bright. If you do order LEDs, I personally have used SuperBrightLEDs.com and the link to the bulb you want is here: Product Listing - CAR The one directly above that will work as well, the only difference is that one has 4 LEDs and the one I sent you to has 6. Also, be sure to select the color of the bulb from the dropdown menu before you hit 'Check Out', as I accidentally ordered red instead of blue for my first set. ![]() Hope that helps.
