did you try to install the overhead yet? I am very interested in how that goes for you since I bought a new '03 base model (love it!) and I am trying to figure out wether the wiring is there as well for the console. Let me know how the install worked for you!!
I haven't tried it yet, I just won the part off eBay and haven't even recieved it in the mail, so we shall see soon enough. I will be sure to keep everyone updated. I looked on ptdiy.com and even signed up for the pit area. Unfortunatly they don't have a guide for this install from scratch, but they do have guide on how to remove and install an overhead that was already there, as well as removing the headliner and the a-pillers. A couple of FAQ questions mentions the idea of installing the overhead console after purchase, but they don't have any concrete data, saying that it is possible if there are wires there, but even tha they aren't sure of. Pretty much the same as what has been said here in that department.

thanks for the welcome...
I purchased my overhead off ebay a few weeks ago as well, but have been too busy to get around to tearing apart the a pillar to found out yet about the wiring. I asked my dealership and they had no idea either. Does anybody know what the part # for the outside temp sensor is or how much one might cost?

So it shipped yesterday, and I should have it by Friday. Perhaps if I feel ballsy enough I'll give it a shot this weekend. I just realized that I was kind of stupid on the auction purchase cause they guy didn't even say if it was functional or not. Oh well. I also looked on the center support bar in the front of the car, and I didn't see any sensor there, I guess that answers that.

I think that there is a good chance that this wiring will be there. I had the wiring in the tire jack area for the aux power source even though it's not installed, and I've read reports about another additional power jack being behind the console area, even if you didn't have it installed off the bat, and others have had the wires for the fog lights ran, so I would think there is a good chance that it may be successful for the overhead console as well.

Why do alot of posts recommend Wyckoff? Are they more accomidating to the custom installer type, do they give some sort of discount, or would any 5 star dealer do?

Okay, I just popped off the front A-Panels cause my curiosity got the best of me, and it looks like I may be out of luck. Below you can see a picture of the Drivers and Passenger side A panels. The drivers side, which is what someone mentioned had the wire for the overhead, had nothing but the terminal to plug the wire that would run up the pillar. The passenger side, also had a terminal, but did have a connected wire that ran up the pillar. I'm guessing this one would be for the Lighted mirror option. This connection had three wires running up the side.

I'm guessing I have two options; one give up, two wait for my service manual to arrive and find out the mopar number for the wire and the harness and just order it from the dealer. If it is still cheaper than the $300 dollar after market review mirror, perhaps its worth it, but now I'm not so sure.

Neps....have you tried calling a junkyard to see if they have any wrecked pt's that might have had the overhead console? They might have the wiring harness from the front pillar that we need. If you do, let me know Or I might try calling today when I get a chance.

Hey davefrease, I haven't called any junkyards, I wouldn't even know where or how to start contacting them. if you come across any info, it would be much appreciated! I spoke to wyckoff and they have the wire available for like $25 bucks, so I may just do that. I had gotten wiring schematics from the good folks at ptdoityourself.net and there is actually 5 different types of wires for the pillars depending on your vehicle config, so maybe its better to get it from the dealer, since they would know which one would work right with the car? I dunno. I'll probably place the order with them on monday, and I'm also going to get the sensor and the parts for the rear aux power port.

Because they have a web site and are responsive - I got good service from them.
Here's another place I've dealt with - good prices:

Any dealer will do, I thought you'd wanna compare prices.
