I would be in at $150 for boost/vacuum and probably $250 for boost/vacuum, rpm and speed at the same time. Digital is good for speed and temp but analog is better for things that tend to move very fast like boost and rpms.

Thanks guys,
The analog movement would still be digital. It would therefore be slower than an analog movement but how slow depends on if I ended up using bluetooth or what type of microcontroller and communication protocol I used. For the price of an analog guage, does it come with the sensor for the engine? Thanks in advance, LIP

I believe that Bluetooth technology has been used by DCX in other vehicles. If so, there may be a chance of interfacing with an existing network designed into the PCM.
However, since nobody's talking on the PCM, that is merely speculation, and little chance for documenting if it is possible or not. The PCI buss that is present on the PCM could be interrogated for all the sensor readings that are already coming from the engine, and I beleve it uses VPW (variable pulse width) modulation as the protocol; serially transmitted. I think it is 7 to 20 volts for an active state, and below around 4 volts for inactive state. THe actual information is encoded on top of the voltage along the buss; which can access up to 32 "servers" on a total length of 39 meters length internal to the system with a 3 meter long extension for interfacing/monitoring/programming - that leads to the outside world. You could possibly tie into this using a pass-thru connector installed on the diag link connector under the dash on the driver's side. Characteristically, SAE would be the source for the most up to date interfacing standards. However, DCX is in their crosshairs for non-compliance to SAE standards, and there is little, if any, released informantion about interfacing/data logging/monitoring/programming the Cruiser PCM available to the public, the aftermarket, or experimenter. Better get som valium if you plan on trying to crack this nut. |

Are they not using a CAN (controller area network) bus on their controller?
I don't suppose it is really that difficult for an experienced ucontroller hacker to penetrate their code...I'm not the guy for that however...I'll probably just make this stand alone so it can be used in other vehicles as well. Thanks for the info though...interesting. LIP

I am new to this site and do not know how to post pictures...my Cruiser is getting there...have had it about 10 months and have added 18 inch chrome rims, a custom PDM billet front and lower grill, gen 3 euro tail lights, shaved the read lid key hole and added a tribal flame graphic, airaid intake, 7.5 inch dvd/tv/mp3/tuner in dash screen, two 12 inch pioneer preimere subs in an enclosed sub-zero box, two monster capacitors for the sound system, an 1100 watt rockford phosgate amp, the brand new XM roadie satellite radio, custom black leather seats, tint and remote start alarm.....i think that is all..more to come...fabricating a part tonight to cover the change holder so i can mount my xm radio screen there, and then will begin fabricating billet door sills and other interior parts....
Never can have too many goodies....also looking at spinners (spinning rims) Thanks! Let me know how to post pics and I will do so....or send you some. BigPhil
