Default HUD display

I'm thinking of developing a display unit to show rpm, speed, temp, boost, etc...It would require the use of standard sensors for each option.

Would anyone be interested in such a unit? It's really early days and I'm just looking into the requirements. However, it really shouldn't be that difficult. The hardest part would be the projector element which to be honest, I have not even researched as of yet.

Let me know,

LIP

I used to race sail boats. We had "multi" displays that we could switch to show speed, depth, time, wind direction, etc. These were digital gauages. I think it would be great to have something like that for our cars. As a matter of fact, are you sure someone hasn't already beat you to it. What a great idea if they haven't. You could make a million!

Take a look at these digital guages.

Two or three of these would be nice.

I'm thinking of a head's up display...one that projects to the front so you don't have to take your eyes off the road. There are some companies that produce these, but none that have the boost anymore and they are not that great in my opinion.

I am thinking along the lines of the following:
Sensors in the engine bay will remain the same as with analog gauges...
They will be wired to a main control unit that is located somewhere under the dash (???)
It will communicate with bluetooth to the projector unit located on top of the dash to avoid the ugly wires

Sounds promising lip. If it could be pulled off at a reasonable price you would have a marketable product.

Yeah I have...actually it's where I got the idea to be honest...
The problem is that only one company is making them (under various names) from what I can tell and they are no longer making the boost gauge.
I'm going to look into it for me personally...if it works great for me I'll see if anyone wants to be a beta tester and if I think there is a market, I have contacts in Asia for production.

I'll keep you posted!

Please let me know if you guys see anything else similar...

Also, would you be willing to pay $150USD for a unit that can switch between rpm/speed, boost, temp ?? Would you prefer digital analog gauges or just digital numbers?

I'm in at $150. I'd be mostly interested in boost. I think this type of display would sure beat the pod type.
