Default PT Dash vents not allowing air flow

Hi, trying again... Both drivers side and passenger side dash 'face vents' of a 2005 PT Cruiser havenít allowed cold/hot air to be blown through for the past month. The a/c and heat work fine on the floor/feet vent, hot side is hot and cold side is cold. I checked the obvious that the vents weren't closed and tried moving the dash knob to dash face vent only or and it doesnít feel stuck or broken. All solutions (the cheaper the better) welcome, let me know if you have any other questions. thank you!

Sounds like the blend door isn't operating to allow air to the dash vents. First take off the center dash and see if the controls are actually moving when you turn the dial.

Then see if you can get under the dash to where the wires actually go and see if they are connected to the levers that open and close the doors.

Hey CREWZIN,is there any question that you cant answer about the PT?Looks like you could take one of these apart and rebuild it yourself.

I don't mess around with Turbo questions. Never had one, never had to deal with one. Also don't get into the real technical (inside the engine) stuff.

Honestly, with Haynes, Chilton, the Owners Manual, the illegally downloaded 01-04 Repair Manual and Google, it all makes me look good ......sometimes.

have you recently done any work to the car that involves removing the faceplate for the ac/radio? if so there may be a loose wire or a short on the ac control. if not that, then there maybe something blocking the vents.

the vents on my PT have an open/close button, and a secondary on the dash (more like a wind directer...)

OK, to update - I ended up at the mechanic who said something slipped off the internal control (blend door screw?) so he redid it and it works fine now. Labor was about $50. Thanks CREWZIN (and gkid1983) for your suggestions!

How is this air blend door accessed? Red PT is missing the vacuum line from the brake booster.
