Installed the shifter several years ago. It does make a difference. The shorter throws mean more effort to shift, but the feel is better. I installed Booger Bushings at the same time, and I'm sure the stiffer bushings added to the solid feel. The shift into third is smoother than stock, although if you push too hard it still hangs up and needs some wiggle, but better than the stock unit. The only difficulty I had was with the booger bushing for reverse. I ended up changing that bushing back to stock. I'd say it is worth it. You may want to check out Maddog for a modified stock version. He can give you several options as to how much shorter you want the throws than stock.. One caution, be careful when making the adjustments to the shiter stops. You can stress and even break the cable if the adjustments allow too much travel.
