Looks good, I have a problem seeing the gauges as they are, can't imagine how I could see them tinted.

Looks like you can no longer see the red pointers due to the blue tint. I've always wanted to replace my bulbs in my cluster with colored ones except for the bulb right behind the pointers. Let us know how it works out for you.

lol, yeah that's my only problem. I can't see the needles at night, all i see is a line passing over the numbers. but i think i'm gonna see if i can find some super bright white led bulbs for the cluster.

The problem is that the needles are red, and your film is filtering out everything except the blue wavelengths. No matter how bright a bulb you put behind the needle it will get filtered out as long as the needle is red.

One of these days I hope to get a custom gauge face set from blackcat customs and convert the gauges to a black background with a mix of blue and white markings with red needles to get rid of the contrast issues our gauges have. Twice a day, there is a point where you can't read the cluster because the backlight and the ambient light are the same. Changing to a black face with lighter characters will fix this. I can't see how the light gauge faces ever made it through testing from a large automotive manufacturer with the readibility issues they have.

One thing you could do is put the film on the backside of the gauge faces so the characters will be blue, but the light will still come through the needles as red. This would require careful disassembly of the gauges and needles.

i was thinking about putting on the face of the gages itself but i didn't have a lot of time. Since i've been driving it's really not that bad. I don't know if i've trained my eyes to see them at night, but i can see the needles now.

gkid, question for you that I've been wondering about for years... when you took that faceplate off, could you get access to the actual guage faces themselves? Could you access the needles? The reason I ask is I'm thinking of getting some of that fluorescent paint and adding a dab on the tip of the needles, then a dab at each 10 mph mark. Might make it interesting under that blue too, you'd have a "floating needle" effect.

Wow, i can remember but it was really easy to take it off after i ripped apart the dash. I think you can reach them but i'll be taking it all apart soon to install a toggle switch for some snake oil i bought, lol. so when i do that i'll let you know.
