Default Overhead Console 2003 Base

Hi gang:

We're new to PT's, and to this forum. It sure looks like a terrific resource. The wife has always wanted one. So we picked up an 03, base with a few nice options. I think it's a base at least. This is a picture:

The question that I have, is, is it possible to install the overhead console with lighting and compass etc. given that the vehicle has never had this option? I've searched the forums and haven't seen it specifically, at least dating back a year.

I am reasonably technical and a well tooled backyard car fiddler and understand the concept of wiring and can usually take things apart and put them back together again with a minimum of left over parts

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Additional note: passenger rear door does not unlock (power). I'm assuming linkage?

Thanks again for such a resourceful site. I really didn't know that PT Cruisers had enthusiast groups, but I'm glad!

Best regards,
Steve.

CREZIN, thanks very much for the greetings and the information. I'll have a read. I've seen a couple units in Ebay.

Best,
Steve.

Welcome.
Do you notice the white band on your bumpers closest to the body? It's from tape they used when the car was shipped - get some WD-40, spray and rub with fine steel wool.

Thanks to all for the greetings, comments and great advice.

The wife has been hooked on these and never had one until now. My first comment when she wanted this one was that is a good "chick car" with me in the market for a van (haven't got it yet). The last couple of nights I've driven hers to get a feel for it nad look for any little issues, instead of my Taurus Wagon. Well Ummm, hmmm.... OH NO this can't be happening. Darn this is a cool car to drive.

yep, after driving the wife's 2001, i, too, had to have one.
mine's a 2002 with more options. she wants to swap her's with mine. but since she had a remote starter installed on her's, she's stuck with it.

real men don't need remote starters.
