Default Mork's Interior LED Progress Thread

Started to add some LEDs to the interior... Not those easy plug and play type, wiring my own.

I used 4 red LEDs (20mA 20,000mcd 1.8v-2.2v) in series with two 270ohm resistors in parallel. The reason I did this, is they are 1/4W resistors, so I split the power between the two so all the power isn't focused on one as to burn one resistor up.

Anyways, pics... I'll be doing more eventually.

Well.. Most interior LED applications are <1000mcd. I chose 20,000mcd (brake light brightness) because, well, it's all I had and I am going to be putting a potentiometer on them once I have all of them complete. That way I can dim them to my liking.

Heck, maybe wire them to the already installed dimmer switch and just have an off on switch for them just incase I dont want em on.

Either way, thanks, I like red. And I like evil. lol

Yeah the dimmer would be nice for sure! I like that u used bright leds cause you have more potential so you can opt for more during the day and less at night or w.e

I was going to do something somewhat SIMILAR to this. only few differences. I was going to use LED pods vs just the single bulbs like that. Secondly, I was going to install one under drivers dash, one under passenger, and 1 under each side under the front seats to light up back floorboards. I was going to run my wires under the center console like you did, and in the 'pencil holder' I was going to drill a place for a round toggle switch. I want to do it RIGHT I dont want to cut any corners as far as wiring it up. I know BASICS when it comes to wiring, but I know FAR from everything. Mayb you can help walk me thru it one day

Yeah depending on where you want to wire it to and if you want to go in series or parallel, or a mixture, I can help out with how its done. I like to stick to just standard LED's.. I buy like 100 packs of them for a few bucks from honk kong. Usually only 1-2 are bad out of the lot.

Changed my mind: I have thought about it, and have thought about using the Individual LED's vs the pods I originally planned. With where i planned to install them *under dash, and under front seat shining in back floorboard, with the individual bulbs, they can b spread out and put anywhere I want giving more illlumination. In addition, after looking @ your install, I am beggining to like what you did with center console. It both looks cool, and can b functional. *I cant tell ya how many times @ night ive been driving, and went to reach for a cup, or to set a cup back down and had to 'feel' for it. This eliminates that. Did you run into any issues with this install? how do you suggest to do wire everything? series vs. parallel?
