Herschel, that "PT Cruiser" is chrome. I ordered an extra door emblem and put it on the cover. I'll see if I can get a better picture.

Meanwhile, back on topic, the shifter conversion is made by http://www.kustomkruzr.com/ and you can buy them from their site as well. I have had one for a couple of years with no trouble. It's one of my favorite modifications. [8D]

If someone is having difficulty, it wasn't installed properly. Actually they are very easy to install, but if it isn't done right the problems that you state may happen. My painter installed mine wrong and it took me a while to figure out what happened. Once I reinstalled it correctly it's worked great.

Hey Basset Hound,
Good to hear from you.
Look great man.
Do you know if a regular Hurst T handle will fit on that shaft you have?
What is inside that shaft that allows it to be pressed down.
Does the knob press down, and does the center of the shaft move or is it the outer sleave that moves?

Does that make since? I think is does, doesn't it?

[:I]now I'm confused

Contact Kustom Kruzr about the Hurst T-handle fitting their conversion. They are super people and should be able to help you out. You may need to buy a converter piece to match the threads of the T-handle to their shifter.

It's hard to explain what's inside the shaft. It's mostly hollow, but there is a metal "track" near the top that fits right into a grove that's in the bar that comes out of the transmission. I just have to push down on the knob to get out of park. The whole outer sleve, as you called it, slides up and down and releases the transmission lock. The instde of the sleve is designed so it pushes down on the shifting bar or shaft just like the button does on the original Chrysler shift knob to release the transmission lock. I'm amazed at how simple the design is and how well it's made. It is amazing that this company came out with such a simple, quality part so soon after the PT Cruiser was released.
