My pt came with a preinstalled car alarm. It blinks in between the gas and temp gauge.

I thought about doing something similar, but then when I purchased my new head unit I found that when the face plate is taken off it goes into alarm mode and has a red flashing LED on it. Blinks as long as you have the face plate off. Looks just like an alarm LED, especially at night. Pretty bright.
