Default Power Source in the Doors???

was thinking about hooking up some leds behind the door handle on the doors to shine down towards the power lock button. does anyone know if there is a power source there that is off of the key? i know there is one thats full time for the door locks, if anyone knows let me know, and also has anyone done this yet?

Stole pic from internet to kinda give example of what i want to do

I've not seen that before but sounds cool. My wife's T&C van has these lights that are below the handle and shine down on the ground so that when you open the door the light kicks on with the regular lights in the van, but it's there so you can see what you're stepping into when it's dark. Very cool. Would like to add that to my PT too.

yea alot of stuff has the puddle lights like the T&C van has, im thinking about adding them to the bottom of my PT mirrors and have them hooked up to the interior dome light so they will come on when you unlock the doors with the remote, but that will be later on in the summer before i do something like that. LOL

The power lock buttons on the first couple of year PT's DO light up. Chrysler did away with it for cost savings measures along with a dozen other things. If they are power locks, there much be power back there somewhere. Someone on the forum was looking into changing most of his power buttons for the earlier ones so they would be lit. ALL the buttons everywhere throughout the interior have the built-in LED's. It might have been "cruserdad1976" who was ding the swap-over to the old buttons.

Both my 07 and 10 have LEDs in the lock button so there must be a power line in there somewhere.

I wonder what year koch has if he doesn't have the lighted buttons. Maybe they did away with the LED's on the base models and kept them on the rest

I replaced the power door lock switches on my 2004 base with earlier model year, salvaged switches (that have the LED).
To make them work, I had to run new wires from the fuse panel to the doors.

I don't think that there are any useable power sources in the existing wiring for power locks or power mirrors.
I was looking into this when I wanted to add safety lights to the doors (that would alert traffic passing from behind that a door was opening).
I like the idea of lights shinning down on the ground.
Running new wiring from the cabin out to the doors is not hard.

They did that on the Concorde's interior lights also, im going to take the door panel off and see if i dont have a power source already in the door for the lights is possible that they used the same wiring harness and just left the light out
