Default Installing Sirius Radio in 04 GT

Got a 2004 PT GT HO non XM/Sirius equipped. Is there a factory direct dash installation kit available or will it need to be an "afterthought" console mounted install.

Any pictures of aftermarket installations would be greatly appreciated.

there may or may not be an OEM option, but from personal experience you'll get a better sat unit, for a better price by going "after thought" as you put it

You can get some pretty kick ass radios from fairly cheap. I think they start at around $30-$40, you won't be able to touch an OEM unit for that

good luck

Agreed. While there are units where you can take the current deck out and splice a sirus adapter to the back of it then adapt the antenna, they are quite costly.

When I sold car audio we had people all the time looking to do just that but no one wanted to pay for the labor and parts required.

If you call sirus sometimes they can get you a great deal on a unit that is like whats meantioned ablve but adds a small device for controls at a place of your choosing. Try to get a deal that comes with an install card. Make sure they include the antenna adapters and such with the package as well.

I will add, the install card and antenna adapter is very important to get from them! The install card basically allows you to go to an installer near you (ask sirus for where) and get it installed. The biggest plus is sirus reimburses the installer for labor (not parts, thats why you make sure you get everything from them).

So instead of getting what you need and doing it yourself, you basically get a card and install places will max it out to the max value ($200?) which means you usually get a premium install, dc plug wired behind radio, all wires super hidden and the control unit mounted whereever you like.

My car came XM/Sirius equipped from the factory. It has the 6 cd receiver and the transmitter is on the trunk, right next to the Mopar sub.

JWLast,

I just recieved an e-mail from Sirius Radio and they have reconditioned units that come
with the hook up to install them in any car....You might check with them about it!

Thanks PTpreacher. I got the same email and bought one of the Starmate 5 kits dirt cheap. We'll fiddle around with the install issues after it arrives!
