OK, just put a $2000 sound system in my PT and love showing it off....BUT! when I have the key in and with my <driver> door open of course my PT Yells at me "Take the key out Dumb Ass!" in the form of:
*DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING* *DING*.....ect. See my problem? I havnt looked into it at all so this may just be an easy fix. My question... What is the best way to disable that *DING*? |

I would LOVE to do that. Just rip the little shit out! But i cant find it. On every other car it seems that there is a button type sensor that is compressed when the door is shut.... if the PT had one of those, I could just Duct tape it down or something (maybe somehting a little more atractive then duct tape but you get the ide)
I was hopeing someone would know where this sensor is on the 2002 PT. That or if there is a fuse somewhere that I can take out. Thanks for any help guys. PTBOBBY ps. soon as I get some pics of mine, Ill post 'um |

Bobby,
Your right about the door switch...there's none in site. Must be somehow connected to the door latch itself when it makes or brakes contact. How about the ignition key switch that I talked about? Turning it forward but not engauging the starter will give you the power for the accessories but won't set off the alarm "ding" when you open the door! I just tried it again and it works. ![]() |

Thanks CREWZIN for that. Turning it to the ON possition makes the ding stop, but like you mentioned, then all the dash lights are on and every once in a while <havent timed it> it will ding once.
So i guess I will do that till i can figure it out.... <sigh> Thanks again CREWZIN, You rock! PTBOBBY |

the interior lights are controled by one of the body computers. When the tabs on the door latch are in the closed position, the computer assumes they are around the striker and the door is shut. Then it turns off the dome light. Push the tabs together by hand and the *DING* stops. CAUTION!!! "Open" the door with the door handle to open the tabs before trying to close the door!
