Anybody know where I can get a dashboard defroster grille?
The one that defrosts the windshield? Or maybe a fix? |

The grill comes with the dash top (not sold separately). There has been somebody awhile ago that came up with a fix after his broke. I'll see if I can find it.

If you can't find one, let me know, I have a friend who runs PT Parts Warehouse on Ebay. He is good at finding things that people need and sells them at good prices.

You know .... with all of the aftermarket accessories that have been made for the PT Cruiser, you'd think SOMEbody would have made an aftermarket drop-in replacement for that grill, seeing how widespread a problem it is.
Just make a replica of the grill with a flange around the outside edge. Cut out your old one and drop the new one in place. So many of the aftermarket "add-ons" I wouldn't put on a parade float - c'mon you aftermarket guys, here's a useful after-market part we can REALLY use ! Mark. |

Aftermarket didn't make on but Chrysler did! Well not on purpose. The brezze and it's other counterpart have a removable grill that gives the same look. I installed one for a friend. It's a slight different shape on the windshield side. Only noticeable if you installed one. Early 0s, check at your local wreckers.

Now that's an interesting tidbit .... I know there's some of those in my local wrecking yard - will have to grab one and see. Thanks.

I saw one in a brezze in the late 90s just yesterday. So I'm not sure how many years have these. Cutting the hole to the correct size is critical in getting it to hold itself in.

So it's not just a matter of cutting out the old grill itself ? The hole needs to be larger than the original opening without the grillwork ? I was hoping to just cut out the broken / cracked grill work (leaving the original frame) and drop it in. Not so ?

A little more work than that. But to look at one you would think it fits right in. Once in it looks totally original. If you take it out your self, it would be nice to trace the opening for a pattern. It will pry out of the dash. It is flexible.

I did this today. It works great! The part you need is from a 1st generation Cirrus/Stratus/Breeze, 1995 through 2000. An online catalog I saw says a 2000 Dodge Ram uses the same part, but I haven't checked that.
