removing the center dash bezel
i first tried to do that about a year ago and failed. the best reference picture i've found since then is the 3rd one at this thread 2006 PT Cruiser -Mac Mini - Page 2
today i just went there and pushed starting from the bottom. the bottom part came out very easily. there's a loud click when it detaches from the area under the radio. and i think i can feel more latches then from what i see latch-holes in that 3rd pic mentioned above... but i may be wrong. I tought i was just going to keep pulling from the bottom up to removing it on the top, but at the area in line with the top of the radio, it just wont bulge. at all. just got blood under two nails and broke 3 plastic tabs while trying to use force. This is the best i could do: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Z...2/P1050503.JPG Here's the bottom part, which i just pulled very easily: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-o...2/P1050504.JPG and here's the part in line with the top of the radio... the damn thing won't move: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-X...2/P1050506.JPG where am i being dumb here? |

Re: removing the center dash bezel
Ah yes, the secret of the center bezel.......
In the air vents!!! Turn them so they are horizontal, look inside the bottom and you will see a channel that uncovers a phillips screw on the bottom of each vent. If you don't see a channel, turn that vent 180 degrees and there it will be. Be careful not to lose a screw down the vent! |
Re: removing the center dash bezel

Re: removing the center dash bezel
It's a very ill-designed panel. pretty much everything but the radio is attached to the bezel. awfull. I gave up on removing it entirelly and just used a mini ratchet for 1/4 bits and unscrewed the button row that i needed. removing the cables for the air system would have been a pain.
