Default Handbrake chrome covers.

A friend from the club asked me if I knew anything about chrome handbrake covers. I told him I would have to ask for help and do a search online.

What do you all know about these?

Don't know about full chrome, but try this link:

I ordered a painted set. Should be here pretty soon.

OK.. I already have one of the chrome handles for my parking brake and installed it. I do like the looks of this painted one. Can I get a new OEM parking brake handle and how difficult is it to replace so i can get one of these painted ones??

Thanks.

To change the handle cover is a real PIA. The handle's metal core has slanted teeth which grab the core going on. Slides on real easy. Coming off is the hard part!
Consider getting a park brake assembly from a salvage yard (mine cost $20) and changing the whole thing. Either way you have to pull the console.
If you change it out, read the section from the shop manual. The mechanism is unnecessarily complicated and has to be cocked.
BTW, what color is your interior? I've got a spare taupe one.

Could you just cut down the center of the cover and ripped it off sideways. Then just slide on the new one?

If you're not interested in saving it you can. You could try pulling the brake on as far as you can and cutting down the center for the underside. The metal inside is a stamped "U" that is up side down. The plastic strip at the base is set in a groove in the cover so you'll probably end up pulling the console to get it back on the new cover.

Be sure DC offers a cover only first!
