Default Why I'm not a big fan of heated seats...

I changed the drivers seat cover in DC #960 yesterday and this is what I found. I have never been a big fan of heated seats and I'm sure the person that sat on this one won't be in the future..lol. Pic #1 shows the seat cover in place, hard brittle and burnt. Pic #2 shows what was going on inside the cover..cooked the spring right to the cover.Pic #3 shows the new cover in place....wasn't as hard as I thought it would be! I'll take a cold seat in the morning vs. a smoldering foam seat any day!

With my wife's new Chevy Cruze, there's 3 things she never had before in her car and she simply loves them. 6-way adjustable Power seats, 7 inch back-up camera as son as you put it into reverse and 3-level heated seats. She puts the heated seats on every time she gets into the car no matter what seat she sits in. Hopefully the foam under the white leather isn't heating up like yours.

I find it ironic that the colors red, white, and blue stand for freedom until they are flashing behind you.

This looks like something else was also a factor since that the whole area was not affected. Just the one strip. Looks more like rust.

You're probably half right. That's definitely burned, melted foam rubber. But it does look like the left side wasn't functioning and so the right side was probably getting a lot more than the normal power. A forensic exam would tell the tale.

It's not rust, it's charred and burnt.

My son has heated seats in his '03 and his wife both love them.

He works late at night and they are really nice on a cold winter's night in Kansas City.

Although it's warm/hot a good part of the year, there are a couple of months where it is cool/cold depending on which part of Florida you live. The further south of course, the longer the warmer weather is. I'm in the middle so, as I said, we get a couple of cool months, even a day or two of frost. Besides, the warm/heated seats sure feels good on the lower spine where I've just had surgery.

Thumbs up Re: Why I'm not a big fan of heated seats...

I've only had 2 Cruisers with heated leather seats.
I traded in the 2006 GT vert with about 60K on her.
And the 2005 Dream Cruiser vert just went over 94K this week.
* Maybe it's the amount of heat and frequency of heat.
I'm probably lucky here in OkieLand that I probably only use the heated seats a few times a winter, early in the AM headed to church on Sunday......wiffie loves that!
Both of mine show no leather effects.
