Calm down and take your time. I've had mine in several positions since I got it. I was showing a young kid today at church today how many things you can do with it and had zero problems. It fits, you just need to take your time.

The problem is that the rubber ends seem to swell a little over time and make the fit very snug. But it loosens up with use.
Just pull up on the back of the shelf and then pull back toward you. When the front comes loose, pull up again. Then put Armor All on the rubber ends and it will work better. ![]()

Maybe your shelf doesn't have the instruction sticker affixed.
Mine didn't but with help from the Forum I was supplied a copy of it that I down loaded, sizes and glued to the rear shelf where the original sticker was. It's not only a four position shelf or back stop but a picnic table. The highest setting hides lower storage and allows for two level utility. The intermediate setting is for taller items on the shelf. I use the lower setting to protect the rear carpet. When it's vertically installed it functions as a back stop for loads you don't want banging into the back of the rear seats.Yahoo ![]() When all else fails, follow instruction on the sticker. ![]() Yes, I do have the sticker and yes I know all the positions, but it seems that once you wrangle it out of the rear hatch it's darn near impossible to get back in easily. It's too wide to wiggle around and get back into position. Maybe folding the seats is the best way. I'll figure it out - thanks! ![]()

When in doubt try the missionary position. It always works!

Well, if you look at my post from the other day, in the "What did you do ... " section, I figured it out. The shelf goes in if you leave it level, and slide it in just above the mounts. I was trying to tilt it lengthwise between the rear pillars and it doesn't fit that way ...

You can also use the shelf as a table, for tailgating.
