Default Need to tap into gauge cluster lights

I added a boost gauge and I'm wondering if anyone knows of an easy way to tap into the hot side of the dimmer controlled gauge lights. I'd like to light the gauge without it being blinding. Maybe it's a dimmed ground with a constant hot? I'm not sure, haven't played with this yet. I can track it down, but if someone has done this already and is willing to help, that would be very appreciated! It's an '05 GT convertible. Thanks!

Nobody has done this? I guess I can run a toggle switch for the light, and only turn it on when I want it (since it won't be dimmed). But I figured it would be nice to have it lit at night. I don't want to run a separate dimmer and all that... maybe I've discovered one of the few things no one has messed with yet...?

Yes, I've done this. Or something very similar when I added lighted door lock switches to my 2005 GT.

I found the easiest (and laziest) way is to just tap into the lights in the controls below the stereo. Those lights are on the dimmer like the rest and they are in a central location.

It's lazy because you could likely find something closer to where you need it. But by popping off the center bezel and removing the screws, the wire illuminating those controls are right there and easy to get to.

Here's a photo of where I tapped in:

That's helpful, thank you. I was hoping for something a little closer to the drivers side to tap into for a pillar mounted gauge, but I could certainly fish something across. And I'll be in there anyway soon, because I'm installing a painted center dash bezel and replacing gauge cluster bulbs, so I'll already be that far into it.

I pulled the console loose and tapped into the gear indicator light. Auto trans.

I think what Nitro means is he would have called me before today if he had seen this thread earlier. Unless someone else chimes in with a better suggestion before I get into that project (which will be a week or two, as mentioned I'll be dealing with a couple things while I have it apart, still waiting on my Mopar paint) I will probably go with the above mentioned hot that goes to the switch panel that's pictured. Thanks for all the input, can't wait to be distracted by my boost gauge at night instead of only during the day!

GtPt05 did you find a pillar pod that is made to fit our convertibles "A" pillar or are you fabricating one.
