Question Adding a 12v power outlet in center dash

Here are the stats: 05 PT cruiser, base model. 135K

Hey all, I was wondering if you could help me out with a little project.

In the attached picture, I've got circled the capped off area where a 12v power outlet/cigarette lighter port can go.

Can anyone tell me how exactly to add in such a device? What wires do I need to tap into? Does anyone have pictures or how-to that would help a would-be electrician such as myself?

How would one "make it so"? Having the outlet be turned on with the car would be ideal for me.

Would I not have to remove the floor console to access that wiring? I've tried that once before but couldn't remove it.

Would using the wiring from the stereo be an option?

You only need to get a 01-05 PT CRUISER Power Outlet with Cap, and replace the dummy cap with the power outlet...the wiring should be there already (was on my 2005 N/A). It's usually zip tied to another wire...find the plug, plug it into the power outlet, done! It would not require access into the floor console.

Just follow Sanatanadharma's instructions:
Quote:
The pictured location is for the 12v battery-hot power outlet, not a cigarette lighter.
Acquire a power outlet.
Remove the center bezel and then the black switch panel.
You may find that the wiring w/ connector is already in place, perhaps tied to the wiring harness. The round delete is easily removed and the power outlet popped into place.
