Default I need new front seats.

Has anyone switched front seats out for something more comfortable? I have a 2008 PT Cruiser 2.4T limited with the heated seats and yeah the heated seats are nice but they are terrible to sit in, uncomfortable as hell. Someone else has to have solved this problem. I don't care if something from another car will work but needs to be leather

Welcome. THe project of switching seats has come up more than once on the forum. Your in the correction section and I'm sure if you go through the pages of older threads that you'll see a couple that might answer your question. I find the leather seats from the 1st generation (2001 - 2005) cruisers to be very comfortable.

My leather seats ('02 Limited Edition) are quite comfortable and are also heated.

I have never sat in the non-leather seats, so I can't give you a comparison.

One of the nicest thing about SOOO BIG, an 05 PT, is his comfortable leather seats. I didn't realize the later 08 models had uncomfortable seating.

I'm gonna guess it's not the seat configuration but the want of leather seats over cloth. There's a few sites that sell new leather covers for the PT. Front and rear. If it's leather you prefer over cloth, new leather covers might do it for you. Most can be self installed and they match front and rear. CoverKing leather covers go for $398.

On cars I've restored I've had seats that were too low that I raised with grade 7 spacers and longer mount bolts.

In SOOO BIG I just didn't have enough leg room and simply re-drilled a new set of base mount holes to move the seat back a smidgen.

Another option is, through the efforts of a upholster, or you if you have the skills, just add a bit more padding under your existing leather.

Rule of thumb. No matter how comfortable an auto seat is, if you have a bulky wallet in your hip pocket in due course you'll be discomforted.

I kinda take offense when everyone automatically says that the Gen II seats are uncomfortable. I have heard it many times here in this Forum and in the local Cruiser Club. I have both generations, my '06 with cloth seating, and my '04 with leather.

To be honest I do not like leather seating. I had it in my 1983 Imperial. It's sticky in the summer (sticks to your legs when you have shorts on and it's humid out), and freezes your butt off in winter, especially when it's 20 below zero (F). You also can tend to slide around on it, too.

I will say that it DID take me a while to get 'situated' in my '06 when I first got it, but it's ultimately just as comfortable. It took a bit of twiddling with the seat adjusters. I can ride all day in either Cruiser.

Just my two cents, and yes it really is a BIT off topic . . . . .

I like the cloth seats in my Gen2, but then again, I have never sat in a Gen1.

Do the heated seats only come in leather, or available in cloth as well? Can you get leather without heat? Maybe the stiffer seats has to do with the heat option?

If you don't care about the heat option, maybe get a set of Gen2 cloth seats and have the recovered in leather.

My Kids 01 LE had leather seats, till we went to the "pick a part" yard and got a complete set of front and back cloth seats for 100.00 bucks.. they were in brand new looking condition and he loves them...

Ive got 3 LE Pt's an 01, 02, & 03, in the family, they will all have the cloth seats eventually.

LOL they had 20+ Pt's at the yard this last week... Ive almost got my 02 in a showroom looking condition.

I've owned plenty of Volvos going back to the old 240 right up to the C70 - and a lot of other makes besides - and Volvos are reckoned to have some of the best automotive seats ever made, something I agree with.

The seats in my 01 PT are right up there with Volvos. God alone knows why anyone would want to change them.

I'm also not a fan of leather seats. Had them in an 84 Laser XE Turbo and an 03 Santa Fe. I prefer the cloth seats in my GT over the seats in my 13 Chrysler 200. I prefer driving the GT.
