Default rear doors not unlocking

My 07 rear doors dont unlock when you pull the handle i have checked the child safety switch and it appears to be disengaged. What am i missing? I have only had the car a week and a half. Is there a user setting that im missing? Thanks for any help and Happy Thanksgiving

Since you don't know much about the history of the vehicle, you might have to remove the interior door panel and check out that the rod is still attached to the handle.

Also, another member had about the same issue recently, he had to readjust the rod going from the handle to the latch for it to work properly.

Don't know a lot about the 2nd generation but on the first, with the key fob, the first push of the unlock button only does the front drivers door and the second push of the same button unlocks the rear doors and the back hatch.

Not sure if this is your problem but I had a similar problem with my Pt Cruiser when my daughter was growing up. After she was old enough I had pushed down on the child safety switch but the next day it was back up. So I took some duct tape to keep the switch from moving back up on it's own and have not had any problems after that.

It's selectable on the Gen2 through the EVIC, that with 1 press of the fob button you can either unlock all doors, or just the drivers.

With my Pt Cruiser with the EVIC, it is set up to unlock all doors.

I have mine set to unlock just the drivers door, no need to cause unnecessary wear and tear on the other lock actuators, when I don't need to unlock the other doors.

Doesn't that make it an inconvenience if you have a date?

^^^^^What he said.

It's also for safety and security reasons not to unlock all the other doors if you don't have to.

Several years ago I worked part-time at a convenience store. We had a money courier that delivered money and picked up the daily deposits. He did this for several stores so he always had numerous money bags in his personal vehicle. One day when he came on his rounds, when he got back into his vehicle, before he could get into the drivers seat and press the lock button to lock all the doors, somebody ran up on the passenger side, opened the front passenger door grabbing some of the money bags and ran off. His vehicle was one that when he unlocked the door by pressing the fob button, it would unlock all the doors. Apparently somebody had been watching him for a while and knew his routine and that he was the courier. The point is, if only the drivers door had unlocked when pressing the fob button, the thief would not have been able to get access into the vehicle from one of the other doors because they would not be unlocked.

The feature can also be set on non-EVIC equipped vehicles.
