Default Dash cover

Afternoon!

I have an '02 Limited with the tan interior, but the dash cover is cracked in many places, especially around the defroster vent and the speaker grilles.

Is there anywhere that I can find a bone stock either OEM or aftermarket dash piece to replace it with? I want one that is exactly the same color and fit, preferably without paying an arm and a leg.

Also, how hard is it to install one? Do I have to do anything special working around the airbags?

Thanks!!!

-John

There not all that hard to install. A cruise around a salvage yard or two might find you one in good condition that was on a garage kept PT that spent most of its life out of the sun. Keeping in mind the old plastic will have some age on it so be careful, it can be brittle. You can always practice on a clunker till you get the hang of takin' it out. Our local LKQ salvage doesn't even list them so they can't be that much. As an alternative, There's a "dash cover" made that Velcros in place. It'll hide a mess of cracks. I found a tan one for about $40 on ebay. They don't look all that bad. Happy PTin', ptprice

$120 to$300 is high price to pay. Especially if it's not hands on so you can determine the quality. I did spot a tan on tonight on ebay for well under $100 that looked good in the photo. s-l225.jpg

My younger son Pricie's 05 Vert has a fabric dash cover that he's had on since it was new. It doesn't hide any cracks on his dash 'cause there aren't any but it is a full coverage dash cover. As I mentioned he got the cover on Ebay. A cheaper way to go. Less than $50. Would something like that suffice for you? Hope that helps. Happy PTin', ptprice

I'm interested in the Dash cover that just fits over the original...does it look phony around the edges or does it fit up pretty well ???

There's a junkyard by my house and they have about 20 pt cruisers, I noticed 10 had good dashes.

I found a great dash at another junkyard and it was about $25.

It was from an 03 I think, but it was that bendable material. Instead of that hard plastic that cracks easy.

I did have a cracked dash for years, and I bought a cover that's pt year specific at auto zone, it was 40 bucks. But... It did lose color on the front of it where the vent cutout is. The rest looks fine since I used a cover shade for it.

DASH MAT/Cover = Prevention!
Never had a dash crack in my 6 Cruisers because I always put in a Dash Mat as the first Mod!

Junk yards would be the best, least expensive.
Remember, that your satisfaction is always guaranteed on eBay!
If it ain't what was described, it goes back at their expense.
Everyone HATES negative Feedback!
