Sealing and Deactivating SunRoof?

I intend to seal with caulking and totally deactivate Sunroof.
Need to cut the wires to the Overhead Console switch which operate the Sunroof. Since the fuse for this controls radio, etc. removing fuse to insure non-operation is not a choice.
Anyone done this and can share information would be appreciated.
Thanks

If I may, what's your reason for wanting to dispose of the sunroof? Is it not working?

Mine had an issue where it wouldn't close sometimes. It was as simple as replacing the entire overhead console. Cost me about $8 at the junkyard or $15 on eBay.

If the issue is leaking, then you need to check the sunroof drains, located in the 4 corners. They're little holes that can fill up with crud. Try vacuuming or compressed airing them out.

I believe doing this would involve removing the roof liner panel to have access to the motors and harness, although i haven't gone this far and can't tell you what to do. There would be connectors to disconnect and no wire cutting to be done.
Once you're in this far you could remove the entire assembly, replace it with a lightweight plexiglass panel and seal with caulking.

Re: Sealing and Deactivating SunRoof?

Just saw this post to me, don't remember getting notified of either posts.
Had to seal the outer sunroof perimeter because nothing I did stopped the leaking inside. I used Dynaflex (DAP) Ultra caulking, black and that did it.
I have have fixed this problem before by unclogging the drain hoses, it has 4, but this time nothing worked.
The electrical motor system works perfectly though. It's a pity.
Have taken the glass out several times and carefully adjusted it when replacing. It works sometimes but sometimes it doesn't. Can't figure it out.
Thanks for responding.
