Kickplate near doors

I brought my car into my shop yesterday, having the center console painted to match dash kit/ I wanted them to paint the fout kickplates along side the doors, but they talked me out of it/ They guy told me that area gets allot of abuse, and I would be repainting it every so often/ has anyone done anything to that portion of your car, if so what? any other ideas, ??? I installed the plastic front sill protectors on the rear door sills to protect the paint from my 135 pound dog's toenails.

For appearance, I would suggest some of the billet or chrome sill protector kits. The one's with the flame cutouts look nice (but would have made my problem worse).

I think you are misunderstanding the part I'm refering to. I'm NOT talking about the door sills, I'm talking about on the inside of all 4 doors, their is a thick plastic cover that has riddges in it, it is as wide as the the door area, same color of interior, do you know what I mean?

Sorry about that, must be having a senior moment. Actually, I would not think that the kickplates on the doors would be subject to THAT much abuse. Might check to see if Rapid Craft is planning on making color coded covers for them in the future. I think it would look good.
