Tailgate display for Car Show

I have seen a lot of different tailgate displays either on the web or at PT car shows so I decided to try and design something that would reflect the time period that many of us remember.

I finished my project in time to show it at RTTB 14. I was taken back by the number of older people that would stop and look and start talking about their experiences and what a great time that was. Some would stop with their kids and have to explain what it was and how it use to be when they were growing up. Really gave me a nice feeling when so many people would stop and talk about it.

Put in a lot of time and work in designing display, however seeing the smiles and peoples faces made it all worth while.

Is this a regional thing or something? I was at a local car show on Saturday and some cars had their trophies displayed but that was the extent if it

Now that is cool Cruiszer! I have a lot of memories about drive-in movies myself.
They used to have dollar a car nights, and we would cram in as many as we could.

Whenever there's an "all PT Cruiser" show, at least the ones I've been to, there's always a category for a tailgate display. It's separate from the points you earn for the show it self and not everybody has to participate in the display and there's no points taken off for not having a display. Some people go all out and spend hundreds of dollars for things to make a display. I use what ever I have handy. Here was a couple of mine. Once I got the NOS bottle/subwoofer, that's the only thing I display now.

Nope, on the east cost. I live in VA. the car show was at Myrtle Beach, SC. on Oct.6.

I would take the "Drive-In" display to a drive-in.
Then I'd stow all the small stuff, pop in a mattress, and......
